Apply to join the IHEEM AE(Electrical) Register

The following criteria apply for registration as an AE(E):

The applicant must be either a Member of IHEEM at Fellow or Member level

and

a Chartered Engineer, or an Incorporated Engineer, with a minimum of 10 years with practical and relevant technical engineering knowledge and experience in Electrical systems to current standards (supported by a relevant CPD Log or suitable documented evidence).  To be qualified and to be able to demonstrate a commitment towards Chartered Engineer registration. 

Have a minimum of 10 years relevant electrical systems engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

Operational Management
Auditing management systems
Risk Assessment
Design of Electrical  Systems
Project Management
Statutory Enforcement
Other related Electrical Health and Safety experience

Have completed an appropriate AP(E) course and passed the Authorised Persons training courses (HV/LV) within 3 years prior to application.

Have completed the HTM 00 AE Foundation Course within the previous three years or six months for first registration.

Have completed a NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety.

Have completed a recognised emergency first aid training course within the last three years.

Undergo a professional interview by the AE (E) Registration Board.

Submit a Practice Report of approximately 2000 words + appendices outlining the experience and type of work carried out.

Submit a separate CPD log.

Agree by signature to adhere to IHEEM AE Code of Conduct 

The AE(E) Registration Board can recommend further actions regarding education and training as deemed necessary before the applicant is accepted onto the register.  These recommendations could be in the form of mentoring by an existing AE(E), or gaining further experience at management level in the electrical field.
