You are invited to the June meeting of the North West Branch in conjunction with SoPHE, which will comprise of a full day CPD Event featuring a presentation from Kohler Mira on their new valve technology. The event will be held on Wednesday 21st June 2017 at Kohler Mira Ltd, Cheltenham. A coach and refreshment will be provided for the day, the pickup and drop off point will be a central location in Manchester (TBC).

A Breath of Fresh Air


The newly established IHEEM ‘Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Energy’ (HVAC & Energy) Technical Platform present their first event: ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’.

Graham Powell, a Senior Partner at Graham Powell Consultants and the new chair of the HVAC & Energy Technical Platform, will be introducing the event by providing an overview of the aims and objectives for the HVAC & Energy Technical Platform: promoting and improving best practice, creating an Authorising Engineer Register and developing a series of standards relating to HVAC & Energy.

Richard Knight, the Director of Richard Knight Consultancy, with over 30 years’ experience in healthcare estates management, will be delivering the seminar presentation. Key topics being covered include:

  • Why should we comply with HTM 03 and HBNs?
  • What is required to meet the HTM 03?
  • Why validate or verify a healthcare ventilation system?
  • Why verify to HTM 03 and not HTM 2025?
  • Is a theatre a clean room?
  • Does microbiological testing need to be carried out under HTM 03?
  • What is required for validating and verifying a healthcare ventilation system?
  • Why and what is required to carry out quarterly inspections? It’s not just appendix 1 and 2.
  • Common problems and their solutions


The day will be split into three three-hour sessions featuring the introduction by Graham, a presentation by Richard, followed by a questions and answers session. Delegates can choose which session they can attend: 09.30-12.30; 13.30-16.30: or 16.30-19.30.

Cancellations / Substitutions for event bookings

  • Cancellations received less than 10 working days before the event will be charged 50% of the appropriate rate.

  • Cancellations received less than 3 working days before the event will be charged at 100% of the appropriate rate (full rate).

  • Non-attendees will be charged at the full rate. Delegates may be substituted at any time for an amendment fee of £15.00

  • Cancellations and substitutions must be made in writing.
