IHEEM are holding two sustainability seminars “Plan Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”. The first took place on 19 April 2012 with good feedback from delegates and the second will be held on 16 May 2012 at the Mary Ward Centre, 10 Turnstile, LONDON WC1V 7JU.

 

Confirmed Speakers: 

  • Trevor Payne – Director of Estates & Facilities Management, UCLH (he will also chair the seminars)

  • Peter Ball - Strategic Research Director, BRE

  • As Strategic Research Director, Peter now plays animportant part of the shaping the research strategy of BRE and works with the Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network on new and emerging technologies and innovative technologies. Peter works closely with the UK Government’s Technology Strategy Board and EPSRC as a mentor, assessor and industry stakeholder and helps to shape the funding roadmap to support Research and Development for the built environment.

  • Phil Nedin – Global Business Leader for Healthcare, Arup

    Phil Nedin


    Phil is a chartered engineer and a director of Arup and is responsible for Arup’s global healthcare business. Phil is an advisor for the International Academy for Design and an advisor to World Architecture. He has also been involved in the Centre of Health Design US Green Building Research Group and is a member of the UK Department of Health design review panel.

     

  • David Pencheon OBE – NHS Sustainable Development Unit

  • David is a UK trained doctor and is currently Director of the NHS Sustainable Development Unit (SDU), England.The NHS SDU develops organisations, people, tools, and policy to help the NHS in England fulfil its potential as a leading sustainable and low carbon organsiation.  David was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours List 2012 for services to public health and the NHS.

  • Katy Bryan, Sustainability Manager for Philips Lighting

  • Katy BryanHaving studied Sustainable Technology at the University of Birmingham, Katy has been appointed by Philips Lighting to advise customers on how environmental legislation will affect their business practices, how to use sustainability to achieve a competitive edge and the importance of including the intangible and tangible benefits of energy efficiency into business cases for energy related projects.

 

 

  • Richard Tandy, National Sales Manager   for Philips Lighting

  • Professor Kevin Lomas from the DeDeRHECC (Design & Delivery of Robust Hospitals Environments in a Changing Climate) Team from the University of Cambridge

  • Larissa Lockwood – Public Sector Manager, the Carbon Trust

These seminars will deal with the sustainability issues that affect the healthcare estates supply chain and endeavour to provide solutions and advice that will help in the future.
