Graham Stanton

Graham Stanton IEng FIHEEM AE(D), Chair of the IHEEM AE(D) Registration Board

Graham Stanton IEng FIHEEM AE(D), Chair of the IHEEM AE(D) Registration Board.

Graham started his engineering career in 1967 by joining the Merchant Navy as an Engineer Officer Cadet and attended an officer training facility at Warsash, near Southampton, followed by a very rewarding service at sea, which he believes formed a very solid platform for his engineering career.

He has retired from the Health Service after forty two years service. He joined the NHS in 1974 in the mechanical design section of WHTSO [now NWSSP-SES] and transferred to the Special Services where he has been working in the sterilizer and decontamination field for the last thirty years plus in various capacities, from December 1981 to his retirement. During that time he led audits for the Welsh Government and was instrumental in setting up and chairing active decontamination groups in both Sterile Services and endoscopy.

He has been an Authorised Person (Sterilizers) since 1995, changing to Authorsing Engineer (Decontamination) in July 2008.

Graham is still invited to the All Wales Decontamination committee as an IHEEM advisor.

In the recent past, he has represented the Wales IHEEM Branch on the Council, which he enjoyed with the involvement of helping develop the Institute during that time.

Currently, Graham chairs the IHEEM AE(D) Registration Board, and was recently retired from the chair of the IHEEM Decontamination Technology Platform [DTP].

Graham also represents IHEEM on the Professional Bodies Group [DPECF] which is a forum of representatives of the main decontamination institutes and bodies.
