Awards

The Institute has five awards, listed below:

Northcroft Silver Medal
Lord Lionel Northcroft was president of IHEEM from 1967 – 1969, during the Institute’s most formative years and he established the Northcroft Silver Medal to be awarded annually to the author of the technical paper which is considered to have contributed most to the advancement of hospital engineering.

Lucas Scholarship
The Lucas Scholarship was created in the mid 1980’s in recognition of Bernard Lucas’ efforts for the Institute and to encourage up to two young members of the Institute to participate in Institute events, specifically the Annual conference at no cost to them. It is awarded annually.

John Bolton Memorial
The John Bolton Memorial award commemorates the life of John Bolton who was President of the Institute from 1985 – 1986. Unfortunately his presidency was cut short as he died in October 1986.

The award is given annually to recently joined members for the best general article submitted to the Journal.

The William E Schall Award
The William E Schall Award was established by the Society of X-ray Technology, which merged with IHEEM in 1990. The Award commemorates the life of William Ernest Schall, who was first President of the Society in 1954 and remind an active member until his death in 1965.

The Award is given annually for the best contribution to the Journal related to X-ray or Electro-medical Apparatus and associated technologies and applications.

The Ron Jeffery Award
This Award is given annually in recognition of a meaningful contribution towards radiological imaging, radiotherapy and allied technology, for outstanding services to X-ray technology.
