Can I join?

If you work in the Healthcare Estates Sector, you can apply to join the Institute. Our members are from all areas of Estate and Facilities Management involving Architects, Surveyors through Engineers and Estates Officers to Facilities Personnel in both the public and private sector.

Lots of experience but no qualifications? No problem! You can join as an Associate Member if you have experience of working in Healthcare Estates. We consider each application individually.

Engineering Council Registrations – As a nominated body of The Engineering Council, the Institute can register members at all grades of registration: EngTech, IEng and CEng.
Technical – Members receive a free copy of our Health Estates Journal ten times a year.
Seminars – Seminars and workshops are run regularly throughout the UK and offer the opportunity to keep ahead in your field as speakers are drawn from a wide spectrum of the industry.
Professional Development – The Institute can offer advice and guidance on how to achieve the most from your Personal Professional Development.
Branches – The Institute has branches in the UK and overseas. These provide an ideal networking opportunity.
Annual Awards – Awards are presented annually for technical papers written by members and members are nominated for national Awards for other contributions.
Conferences – We hold an annual 2 day conference, and support other smaller regional conferences, which are all complimented by a diverse range of speakers as well as trade exhibitions.
Publications – Along with the Health Estate journal, a wall planner is sent free to members.
Contacts – IHEEM encourages links with other professionals in the healthcare sector through our journal, local branch meetings, conferences and seminars.

Careers Advice and Guidance – Along with general careers advice, The Institute offers a personal mentoring scheme whereby an experienced member will act as an advisor to help you develop your career, or to help you through any difficulties.

Health Estate Journal Archive - The Health Estate Journal (publication of the institute) has been running in various guises since 1945. This set of disks contains pdf versions of the journal since its start and is an excellent source of historical information on the industry.
