Start date: 25/10/18

Booking deadline: Mon 22 Oct 2018

Venue / location: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Acre Street, Lindley

The Yorkshire Branch invite you to their Technical Seminar Evening on 25th October 2018. It will be held at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Acre Street, Lindley, HD3 3EA, commencing at 6pm for an 8pm finish.

The presentation will begin by looking at the broad concepts that can be addressed with Lighting Design, before focussing on Lighting for Biological Activation. Known by many descriptions such as; Circadian Lighting Design, Human Centric Lighting, Melanopic Lux and Lighting for Health and Wellbeing.

The body of knowledge and understanding regarding this fascinating area of lighting application is increasing at a dramatic place. After a quick recap of the basic physiology of the eye, we explore the mechanism by which light becomes a primary driver of the body clock and sleep/wake cycle.

The implications of day-to-day life are explored, along with applications in such areas as education, healthcare and commercial spaces. A technique for quantifying Biologically Active light is presented along with example calculations for a sample office installation.

The presentation closes with a detailed and solutions focussed analysis of the WELL Building Standard's section on Circadian Lighting Design.

There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of the presentation.
