Decontamination of medical devices is an area of high importance. The ability to reproduce devices that are ‘fit for purpose’ is one of the most important facets in healthcare organisations. Medical devices need to be used in all parts of the service, from the district nurse and dentist in the community environment to the major teaching hospitals undertaking highly complex surgical procedures.

The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) is holding a Theatre Access course at the AfPP Offices in Harrogate. The training session is designed to give delegates the competencies required to visit theatres to attend a surgical procedure. Delegates will develop an understanding of how to comply with infection control guidelines and procedural policies. The course is designed primarily for medical device representatives but would also be relevant to student nurses and work placement students.
