The President - Pete Sellars

The President provides leadership to the Council and ensures that trustees fulfill their duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the Institute. The President supports, and where appropriate challenges, the Chief Executive and ensures that the Council as a whole works in partnership with executive staff. 

Pete has 40 years’ experience of managing and delivering professional healthcare estate & facilities services. He has held senior management roles, at national, strategic, and operational levels, within the Department of Health and the NHS.

Pete has recently left as Head of Profession for NHS Estates & Facilities Policy at the Department of Health. Where his prime role was to ensure the delivery of Ministerial priorities for the efficient and effective use of the NHS Estates & Facilities services, the NHS Constitutions right’s for a clean, safe, fit for purpose patient care environment, and the production of guidance and best practice material for the NHS. 

Pete led the successful introduction of a number of national programs these included the NHS Premises Assurance Model, Procure 21+ Construction Framework, SHAPE, and PLACE, alongside securing targeted funding for the £50M Energy Invest to Save programme and £50M Dementia Patient Environment programmes.

 

The President’s Address and Awards Ceremony was held at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on 24 November.

Attended by over 60 specially invited key industry stakeholders, the event set out Pete Sellars’ plans and visions for the Institute. Key themes included a focus on aligning IHEEM more closely with universities and the importance of apprenticeships.

The awards ceremony featured the IHEEM Northcroft Silver Medal being presented to Paul Mercer. There were also two presentations of the IHEEM Lucas Scholarship Awards presented to Jake Marshall from Troup Bywaters & Anders and Matthew Page from Eta Projects.
