Henry Brothers has begun work on the project, which is scheduled for completion in early 2026, and will enhance diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients in Nottingham and the wider East Midlands.
The contractor’s MD, Ian Taylor, said: “We are very proud to have been appointed to develop this modern endoscopy unit for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Being based just a short distance from the Queen’s Medical Centre, it gives us great pleasure to contribute to improving the infrastructure and patient care at our local hospital.”
The redevelopment will see the existing endoscopy unit reconfigured and expanded to create a substantially larger, modern facility, with the addition of a third procedure room, increasing clinical capacity, and enabling a higher volume of complex endoscopic procedures to be carried out annually. The new unit will also offer enhanced privacy, dignity, and safety for patients, while ensuring full compliance with national standards for ventilation and room size in endoscopy services.
The project is backed by a £12 m investment from the Trust and NHS England, and forms part of a wider regional programme that has seen over £57 m invested in endoscopy services across the Midlands over the past three years.
