BSP Consulting is an award-winning Civil and Structural engineering firm offering services throughout the construction sector. Operating across the UK, the company is also skilled in Transportation engineering, along with Geotechnical and Environmental engineering.

BSP Consulting, originally The Breakwell Sumner Partnership Limited, was founded in Nottingham in 1999 by Martin Breakwell, David Sumner, Clive Roddick and Mark Rayers.  It was re-branded BSP Consulting in 2002. In 2021 Carl Hilton became the new Managing Director.

The company currently has five directors…each of whom has specialist skills in different fields of engineering. This allows us to offer a comprehensive range of services to the construction sector. Our philosophy is very much driven by a hands-on approach…with all directors involved in project work on a daily basis.

Since 1999, BSP Consulting has grown and now has four offices across the East Midlands – in Oxford Street, Nottingham, at Pride Park, Derby, and in  De Montfort Street, Leicester – as well as an office in South Yorkshire, on Smithy Wood Crescent, Sheffield.

The firm provides a complete range of consultancy services to all sectors of the construction community, from architects, project managers and contractors to developers and estate agents. Staff also offer an expert witness service where needed. Its employees are experienced in all sectors, including pre-planning, regeneration, education, residential, retail, rail, health, leisure, Industrial and commercial construction.

Over the past few years, the healthcare sector has undergone significant transformations driven by key government initiatives, such as Agenda for Change and the transition from Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). We have also navigated major shifts in procurement strategies, including the implementation of Procure 22/23 in NHS

acute hospital trusts, the NHS/SBS framework, and 3PD models for delivering health and medical centres in primary care.

A deep understanding of Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) standards is essential for successful project delivery in the healthcare sector. Additionally, the HAPPI report and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have set new benchmarks for enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.

With over 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector, we have successfully delivered a wide range of projects, including medical centres, dementia care homes, public and private hospitals.
