Job Title: Catering Assistant

Overview

The post-holder will work as part of the catering team to provide ancillary services directly to patients, service users, and customers by preparing, cooking and portioning a range of nutritionally sound, palatable and safe meals, using traditional and cook freeze methods of catering.

A range of duties are covered from the start of the food preparation service through to the delivery to point of use, serving, cleaning and managing stock levels in line with legislative and local policy and procedures.

The post holder will distribute patient meals to service users across the Trust using Trust vehicles.

Job Title: Catering Clerk

Overview

To liaise between the Catering Department and Wards ensuring that patients are able to choose from the menus. To produce production schedules and financial cost control information as required for the efficient running of the Catering Department

The position of Catering Clerk involves the daily visit to all Ward areas. Contact is maintained with all levels of Ward staff and in some instances patients themselves

Working within a similar environment would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given

  • Ability to complete records of food temperatures
  • Food presentation
  • Knowledge of H&S and COSHH

Essential experience

  • Smart appearance, friendly and responsible attitude
  • To be aware of colleagues H&S needs whilst at work
  • Willing to conform to standards and business objectives
  • The flexibility of the role and working hours, good timekeeper and reliable
  • Fit and able to lift and pull heavy loads

Job Title: Chef

Overview

Under the direction of the Head Chef/Shift leader, work as a team member of the catering team to produce using and following standard recipes, food, safely, attractive and to a high quality to meet the nutritional and cultural needs to expected standard for patients/customers within the agreed budget and resources

All duties carried out by the employee will be in accordance with food safety and health and safety legislation and in line with Trust policies, this includes an excellent standard of cleanliness of all catering equipment and rooms in relation to catering areas.

To take the role of Shift Leader as required which involves taking charge of the kitchen

Job Title: Catering Supervisor

Overview

The post-holder will lead and supervise the catering team in the provision and delivery of all catering services with specific responsibilities for patient/service users, staff and function provision.

  • Fit and able to lift heavy items, also able to work in adverse conditions without any affects to health

Job Title: Catering Manager

Overview

The post-holder will be responsible for the operational management of the Trust Catering Services and in ensuring value for money is achieve and that standards are maintained.

The post holder will contribute significantly to the provision of a quality service within the Trust and will be responsible for the effective management and provide leadership to the Catering team in addition to other Facilities services managers, supervisors and front line staff as required.

The post holder will plan and organise the use of materials and human resources across the various departments within Facilities and take responsibility in the absence of the Head of Facilities.

  • Degree / HND or equivalent Institute of
  • Hospitality qualification
  • Advanced food hygiene certificate
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English / maths
    HACCP Level 2

Essential skills and competencies

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, HACCP, Food Safety. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to think on their feet and take the initiative, tact and diplomacy.
  • Team working skills, The ability to lead and motivate staff, administrative ability and IT literacy.
  • Numeracy and financial skills in order to manage a budget. An appreciation of customer expectations and commercial demands.
  • Stamina and the ability to work under pressure.
  • A well-organised approach to work;
  • Flexibility and the ability to solve problems in a pressurised environment.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Experience in improving service delivery.
  • Drive and determination to improve standards and profitability.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

  • Able to influence, motivate and help staff when necessary.
