General Overview: This post is the professional, organisational and managerial head of the Estates function and will contribute across the wider spectrum of the Estates and Facilities directorate, which impact in a critical way on the Trust’s corporate objectives. Take a lead role in the development and implementation of the Estates and Facilities Strategy (included in this will be the Directorate’s Service and Workforce Strategies). In conjunction with other disciplines within the directorate; provide a suitable, safe and compliant environment and infrastructure in which to deliver health care. Identify estates related risks to ensure that all relevant risks are identified and actively managed as per the Trust’s Risk Management Strategy. Constantly review relevant standards to ensure that national directives and statutory obligations are complied with and account is taken of new technologies. Manage the Trusts PFI and ensure best value through appropriate monitoring. Negotiate and implement appropriate Service Level Agreements and formal contracts for third party organisations as appropriate ensuring that service standards and financial profitability are achieved whilst minimising risk.

Essential skills and competencies (based on AfC person specification):
10 years’ experience in the management and development of the maintenance function of a large diverse organisation.
Minimum 3 years senior management experience reporting to Director of Associate Director level. iii. Extensive knowledge and experience of the principles, theories and practices of a wide and technically diverse range of subjects including specialist knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, Energy and Building related topics.

• Management experience of human resources with a high level of skill in developing and motivating people at all levels of the organisation.
• Experience in change management, forecasting and planning providing continuity and flexibility.
