Job Title: Logistics Operative 

Overview

You will join a team responsible for providing estates and facilities services across sites. The primary duties will be to carry out a wide range of duties including transport of patients and samples, portering, basic building and engineering repairs, grounds and gardens work including snow and ice clearance.

  • Secondary education (or equivalent)
  • Working at heights training

Essential skills and competencies

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and service users
  • Understanding of building maintenance and repair work
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable, fit and active.
  • Able to work as part of a team

Previous employment in a similar role, knowledge of COSHH

Job Title: Transport Supervisor

Overview

  • You will assist the Transport/Distribution Manager to ensure the provision of a good quality transport service.
  • To ensure a proper standard of service from the transport staff
  • To ensure all vehicle checks and log records are compiled each day and a record kept including fuel usage
  • To supervise and ensure controls are in place and regular checks are maintained in both regular and ad hoc requests.
  • To liaise with other departments and requesting parties over transport and related issues
  • To maintain departmental records as required by the Transport/Distribution Manager
  • Ensure all Health & Safety regulations, vehicle, road traffic laws are observed – including checking of driving licences.
  • To trouble-shoot and check on request any hospital motor vehicles
  • To liaise with leasing and other external companies relating to repair/maintenance contracts in conjunction with the Transport / Distribution Manager
  • To perform driving duties when required and any other duties appropriate to the grade.

  • Clean Driving Licence, relevant category
  • Educated to GCSE standard with GCSE’s at
    level A-C (or equivalent) English and
    Mathematics

Job Title: Patient Transport Manager

Overview

  • Identify complex journeys or potential high volumes and liaise with the transport provider to ensure that appropriate plans are put in place that will meet the demand and maintain patient flow
  • To ensure that all patients requiring transport from the organisation receive this within the agreed contractual KPI’s.
  • To organise and facilitate training across the organisation to ensure that all key members of staff can identify the correct patient transport requirements, the correct transport provider and have access and are proficient at booking transport.
  • To develop and maintain staff training database ensuring that training compliance is maintained to a level that ensures that all areas are able to book patient transport irrespective of the provider
  • Develop a process that allows for the early identification of complex patient journeys to prevent transport delays.
  • Identify staff training needs relating to transport across the organisation.
  • To embed a culture where the correct transport is booked the day prior to discharge or at the earliest opportunity when a discharge is known
  • To monitor patient transport journeys throughout the day and escalate any foreseen transport delays to the on-site hospital transport liaison officer or in their absence to the transport provider ambulance control.
  • To lead on and develop alternative transport providers including the voluntary sector.
  • Work alongside the Clinical site managers in determining the priority of patient discharge and transport allocation.
  • Actively support the day-to-day demand forecasting and to create positive working relationships with key stakeholders to support patient flow throughout the organisation

Formal Qualifications, education & training required

Evidence of degree-level education plus specialist knowledge or demonstrable equivalent level of education or work experience in a similar patient/customer-facing or logistics role

Essential skills and competencies

  • Demonstrates success in delivering change.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively and to prioritise work in the face of competing demands.
  • Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources
  • Ability to deliver regular training to staff on transport processes Implementing a training database and maintaining a register of training including running reports to be presented at Divisional boards.
  • Skills in persuasion, negotiation and an ability to explain complex technical processes and subjects in terms that are intelligible.
  • Budget control knowledge
  • Ability to collaborate constructively within internal and external partners
  • Ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams enabling them to understand the patient flow objectives.
  • Good time-management skills

  • Demonstrate an understanding of operational procedures and patient flow.
  • Evidence of working in a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Experience and delivery of positive customer service
  • Evidenced delivery of effective training programmes and management of training records Experience in report writing and delivering presentation at senior level.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining accurate databases records.
  • Experience in engaging a large and varied group of staff.
  • Working knowledge of governance and control processes and writing standard operating procedures
