The 33,000 sqft extension is a newly refurbished healthcare space with expanded key diagnostic, surgical and therapy services.
The development has been designed to modern clinical standards, with a focus on flexibility, patient flow, and the integration of advanced medical technologies. Key additions include a new therapies area, an additional operating theatre to support advanced robotic surgery, a chemotherapy day unit, and a fully upgraded radiology department.
The radiology upgrade introduces new X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and DEXA imaging systems to support a broader diagnostic offering. The therapy department has doubled in size and now includes a dedicated occupational therapy facility, a children’s therapy area with a sensory room, and a fully equipped rehabilitation gym.
Elsewhere within the extension, two new cardiac catheter laboratories have been commissioned to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. A new 10-bed recovery department has also been created to provide post-procedure care in a calm, purpose-designed environment.
The Lexham Gardens redevelopment supports Bupa’s wider sustainability strategy and its ambition to achieve net zero by 2040, Bupa says. The building has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, and the installation of more energy-efficient plant and clinical equipment is expected to deliver long-term reductions in operational carbon.
