CRASH focuses on supporting hospices and homelessness organisations with vital construction projects, and Dulux Decorator Centre has been one of its Corporate Patrons for the past 10 years, assisting with paint and specification needs. Here Dulux Decorator Centre was called upon to assist with the paint specification, and donated all the paint needed for the project, bringing the hospice some much-needed colour
Herriot Hospice Homecare provides care and support to those living with terminal illness and bereavement across Hambleton and Richmondshire, through specialist care and support. It partnered with CRASH and Dulux Decorator Centre to turn the former Lambert Memorial Hospital into a hospice, offering inpatient care, bereavement support rooms, a café, and a community hub facility.
The two-phase project required a complete refresh of the ground floor and first floor. To help with the redecoration, the Dulux Decorator Centre team visited the site and offered its view on the best products. Adam Lynch, Technical Support manager at Dulux Decorator Centre, said: “For this project, the paint’s durability was key to ensuring that the surfaces could withstand regular knocks and scuffs and continue looking their best for longer – without the need for disruptive touch-ups. Herriot Hospice Homecare and CRASH also wanted to use Brilliant White and Drifting Cloud (a cool neutral) across the facility, so it was important to select products that could be colour matched.
“To ensure this was achievable, I recommended the use of Dulux Trade Mouldshield Fungicidal Matt for the bathrooms and wetrooms, as it contains a special fungicide that inhibits the growth of fungi and mould inside buildings. I suggested Dulux Trade Diamond Matt for the communal corridors, bedrooms, and kitchen, thanks to its high durability and sustainability benefits. Finally, Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt was selected for the ceilings and walls in quieter areas that didn’t require additional durability.” The paint was donated by Dulux Decorator Centre in Harrogate.
Vipesh Misry, Projects manager at CRASH, said: “It has been a pleasure to liaise with Dulux Decorator Centre on this project for Herriot Hospice. At CRASH we know colour can completely transform a space, and I am grateful to the Dulux colour experts who visited this project and took the time to create a bespoke colour palette for Herriot Hospice – creating a safe, peaceful, and relaxing place to be. On top of their invaluable expertise, Dulux Decorator Centre generously donated the paint at no charge to the hospice, meaning they can channel the savings into delivering their exceptional care.”
