Overview
- To ensure the grounds and gardens at Trust premises are maintained to a high standard.
- Provide all areas of care for plants and shrubs including trees in a competent manner with the ability to dig, fork, hoe and plant.
- Carry out basic maintenance of hand and mechanical tools/machinery e.g. cleaning and lubricating.
- Use tractor and mower or trailer for grass cutting and the transporting of materials and equipment.
- Carry out cleaning of ice/snow during periods of inclement weather and be part of a call-out team when required.

Job Title: Head Gardener
Overview
- To ensure the grounds and gardens at Trust premises are maintained to a high standard.
- To ensure members of staff carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner and to see that the work is maintained to a high standard.
- Organise daily work schedules, record timesheets, work record sheets, holiday schedules and transfer information to P.C.
- To be available for audit reports/Health and Safety, accident/untoward occurrence reports.
- Provide all areas of care for plants and shrubs including trees in a competent manner with the ability to dig, fork, hoe and plant.

Formal Qualifications, education & training required
- NCH (National certificate in Horticulture) or; City & Guilds Stage 2, Amenity Horticulture.
- City & Guilds Stage 2, Horticultural Machinery or Equivalent.
- N.P.T.C Chainsaw & related operations – CS30, CS31 & SC 32.
- N.P.T.C Certificate of competence in use of Pesticides – PA1, PA6.
Essential skills and competencies
