The NHS Estate
Our hospital estate spans 25 million m with 1.4 million NHS staff working across 17,000 buildings, including 1,140 hospitals and 7,500 primary care sites, our c100k staff are responsible for maintaining and running all EFM services.
With £5 billion of operational capital funding and annual expenditure of £10 billion across estates and facilities management, there’s scope to make real change across our estate.
Main duties of the job
About the role
Reporting to and deputising for the Deputy Director of Estates, you will join our leadership team in a new role aimed at recognising our commitment to future proofing our estate.
Responsible for the strategic and operational development of EPRR, data analytics and contract management of our outsourced engineering function, you will lead a future-focussed assurance service, managing risks and budgets for the team.
Providing technical authority and leadership your expertise, critical thinking and analytical skills allied to your excellent stakeholder management will enable you to navigate competing views, stakeholder interests and industry pressure in the national interest.
You will distil complex subjects into plain English, developing briefings for senior management and government ministers.
An NHS champion of EFM careers, you will help to raise the profile of engineering and STEM careers.
About you
A chartered engineer or architect, you will be passionate about EFM with a deep technical knowledge and experience of the NHS estate, HTM’s and HBN’s.
Your technical skills will be matched by your drive for positive change in technical excellence, progressive use of data and future proofing our services.
Able to work at pace, you’ll build trusted relationships at all levels across the NHS, government, and partner organisations, as well as developing a positive team culture.
You’ll also be passionate about professional development which we will support.
