Aims & objectives
his course provides a means of developing and assessing the knowledge and skills of anyone who is wishing to become an Authorising Engineer, as outlined in NHS guidance. This is a key element of training for those wishing to progress to an Authorising Engineer role in the more specialised environment of healthcare engineering.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
– Explain the roles played by various bodies, such as the Health & Safety Executive and Care Quality Commission, in the provision of healthcare services in the UK
– Differentiate between the roles of commissioning and providing services
– Explain the roles, duties and responsibilities of Competent Persons, Authorised Persons and Authorising Engineers in accordance with NHS guidance
– Accurately and comprehensively describe the role of a quality model in developing best practice
– Justify, to the satisfaction of the assessor, the constructive conclusions drawn from a review of incident records
– Obtain appropriate guidance in interpreting or applying health and safety law
– Precisely explain the meaning of negligence in the context of providing a professional service
– Accurately explain the purpose of public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance
– Correctly determine the principles of the laws of contract
– Evaluate appropriateness of a record management system
– Identify all relevant statutory and mandatory incident reporting systems
– Recognise the importance of making and keeping accurate records
– Demonstrate how to structure an interview
– Identify the appropriate means of providing feedback
– Demonstrate how competence can be assessed
– Develop a mentoring strategy
