This course is aimed at National Health staff and contractors required to perform the duties of a Competent Person (Decontamination) as defined in NHS Guidance. Pharmaceutical staff could find this course of benefit as evidence of training.
Aim/overview
To enable delegates to carry out the recommended yearly and revalidation testing procedures on large* porous load sterilizers in accordance with NHS Guidance.
Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Explain the main responsibilities of key personnel involved with sterilization equipment
- Assess possible hazards associated with large porous load autoclaves and their engineering services
- Reference and describe specified testing procedures
- Calibrate and use specified test equipment
- Carry out yearly periodic tests
- Correctly interpret test results and produce a detailed report.
Prerequisites
You should have completed STM2 – Large porous load sterilizers – quarterly testing (to NHS guidance) before attending this course.
