The healthcare consultancy will be supporting the UK team at global engineering and architecture firm, Ramboll, the Framework supplier for capital investment programmes for the Falkland Islands Government, which has operated in the Islands for over 30 years.
Both companies bring considerable experience developing healthcare projects in remote island locations. Ramboll says its strong expertise in designing for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) is ‘a significant asset to the project’, which will reduce construction programme, enhance building performance, and overcome skilled labour shortage on the island.
“We are excited to continue our long-term collaboration with MJ Medical, supporting the Falkland Islands Government and islanders in futureproofing their hospital through our combined experience and technical expertise,” said Bonnie Chu, UK director of healthcare for Ramboll.
MJ Medical brings 20 years’ experience working on island hospital development projects – including the New Healthcare Facilities Programme in Jersey, the Princess Elizabeth Hospital and Mignot Memorial Hospital in Guernsey, and the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital.
As part of its role, MJ Medical is currently supporting Ramboll and working with the Falkland Islands Government to develop a masterplan for the hospital’s growth, modernisation, and service enhancement for the next 10 years.
