NHS Open Space is a digital booking platform that enables NHS teams and approved partners to book clinical and non-clinical rooms online, with access to photographs, floorplans, availability, and accessibility details.
The service supports the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan priority to accelerate digital transformation across the NHS.
The three month pilot demonstrated benefits across 18 CHP sites, covering 151 bookable rooms. Key results included:
- 83% user satisfaction, with 79% likely to book again.
- 100% reduction in staff time for user registration, thanks to self-service onboarding.
- 66% increase in cost recovery, forecasted to rise to 99%.
- 21.8% of bookings from new users, widening community reach.
- Improved data transparency and reporting for ICBs and tenants.
- Reduced unused room time, with 12% of migrated bookings cancelled after review.

The 2025/26 phased rollout will extend NHS Open Space to more CHP sites, supporting the NHS’s strategic shift toward neighbourhood-based care.
