A free-to-attend webinar being held by energy and sustainability consultancy, Sustainable Energy First, in association with Health Estate Journal on 18 June will focus on the measurement and reporting of the NHS Carbon Footprint (and Footprint Plus), the developments associated with the NHS supply chain and Carbon Reduction Plans, and other related frameworks ‘that influence, and are influenced by’, the NHS’ operations and ambitions.
Taking place at 11.00 am on 18 June, and titled ‘The implications for carbon reporting frameworks and the NHS ecosystem’, the webinar will be presented by SE First Head of Developments & Frameworks, Bethany Fleetwin, and her colleague, Solutions Engineer, Kiron Neale.
SE First said: “As the theme of ‘Net Zero’ becomes more topical, more and more organisations are beginning to speak in the ‘language of carbon’, and are reporting their carbon emissions as an expression of their operational activity. In that regard, the NHS is the world’s first health system to commit to becoming Net Zero, and is working towards achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040 (emissions directly controlled) and 2045 (emissions it can influence).
“Despite, this staggered targeting, it does mean that 2045 marks a significant milestone given that it is the NHS’ ultimate Net Zero date (which is also five years ahead of the national 2050 ambition). As the UK’s largest employer, however, there are a series of implications for carbon reporting that transcend both the internal and external operations associated with the NHS – which our two presenters will cover in this online session.”
Bethany Fleetwin MRes, Head of Development & Frameworks within SE First’s Sustainable Solutions Department, has had a varied career spanning research into land use impact on mycorrhizal fungi genetics, bespoke diesel generator sales, and BEMS system design.
