Marine Lake Health and Wellbeing Centre has been delivered in partnership by Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (WCHC), Marine Lake and Estuary Medical Practice, and Age UK Wirral. Bringing together primary and community care, and access to specialist health and care services, it is the latest regional healthcare facility delivered by Eric Wright’s specialist project team, which has a long track record in the health and care sector.
The 2,037 m2 centre spans three floors, and has seen the re-location of Marine Lake Medical Practice and Estuary Medical Practice, allowing extended hours and increased capacity, plus access to specialist health and care services. There is also a new community space – including a café – led by Age UK Wirral. A key feature is a community wellbeing garden, which a range of plants and places for local people to grow their own vegetables, as well as ‘a multiple use space’ for relaxing or use as an outdoor classroom for local primary school pupils.
Commenting on the successful completion and handover Nick Galvin, Project manager for Eric Wright Construction said: “To have delivered this superb facility in little over 12 months is testament to the high level of collaboration and hard work across entire project team. We have used local labour and local suppliers wherever possible. It was quite a challenging site due to the confined space and proximity to residential properties, but we’re really proud to see Marine Lake open and functioning so soon after starting work.”
