TODD ARCHITECTS IS A LEADING HEALTHCARE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN FIRM.s Founded in 1976, with offices in London, Belfast and Dublin we have extensive experience in the medical sector, having designed and delivered numerous healthcare buildings for an extensive range of departments and specialist support functions. We provide a full range of services from inception to completion to include campus development control and master planning, strategic and clinical planning, business cases, architecture, interior design, technical delivery and post occupancy evaluation.
We understand the nature of design challenges posed in all healthcare environments which, from our experience, include provision of efficient operational and functional buildings which also provide therapeutic environments for patients and staff; delivery of complex buildings on frequently challenging sites, including extensive work in within live hospital environments. Our healthcare buildings balance the technically demanding requirements of progressive models of healthcare, yet delivering a high quality, efficient and innovative architectural response.
We persistently pursue a policy of good quality design which addresses the core principles of functionality, efficiency, life cycle maintenance, economy and aesthetics. It is our firm belief that a practical approach to design, which adheres to relevant legislation and guidelines, can achieve high quality buildings which provide environments that are not only pleasing and uplifting to patients and staff alike, but which are also functional, practical and sustainable healing environments. We have successfully delivered many innovative schemes which have been praised for both their technical and aesthetic design excellence by staff, patients, visitors and peer reviewers alike, with recognition of awards from Building Better Healthcare, RIAI, RIBA, RSUA, IHEEM and the accolade of the of the prestigious European Healthcare Award 2018 winner of health building project over 20,000m2.
Whilst our approach to the design of each project will obviously be site and brief specific, we employ a consistent methodology to the design of healthcare buildings to ensure that, whilst being functional and incorporating all relevant statutory requirements and compliance with technical guidance, the design creates a non-institutional environment for users to actively encourage wellbeing. Our collaborative delivery teams use the latest BIM technology and are conversant with health building standards and technical guidance. This ensures technical compliance and coordinated documentation. Our design focused approach is underpinned by international best practice and evidence based research to deliver innovative environments for healing.
We design high-performing buildings that deliver long-term value, are flexible, responsive and adaptable. Experience and knowledge means we apply evidence to improve health outcomes. Early end user and clinician engagement and a LEAN approach to planning ensure layouts support efficient clinical pathways and that the workforce is used effectively. This co-ordinated approach provides settings that support better treatment whilst being beautiful, with natural daylight, ventilation and integral art and landscaped spaces.
